NRB was established in 1965 as an Indo French Joint Venture with financial and technical collaboration from Nadella. Nadella belongs 50% to SNR, France, a subsidiary of the Renault group and 50% to Torrington, U.S.A, part of Ingersoll Rand Worldwide. NRB was incorporated in Mumbai under the name NEEDLE ROLLER BEARING COMPANY LIMITED. The first Comapny to manufacture Needle Roller Bearings in India.

Starting with an intial capital base of Rs. 1.00 million in 1966, NRB's equity capital grew to Rs. 83.20 million by 1993 idealized only through bonus issues. In 1995, there was a fresh infusion of capital base of NRB is Rs. 9692 million and it is a Public Limited Company quoted on the Bombay Stock Exchange as well as the National Stock Exchange.

 

Milestones:

1965: With technologies expertise, Joint forces and world oldest needle bearings Nadella of France resulted in Needle Roller Bearing Co. Ltd. A joint venture company promoted on principles of precision, quality, vision, service and best in its fields.

1966: The First plant was setup in Wagle industrial Estate Thane, Mumbai, Needle Bearing products.

1975: A Larger state of the art manufacuturing units was set up at Pokhran road also in Thane to manufacture Needle Roller Bearings.

1980 : NRB manufacturing capabilities were complimented by its agency division which was setup in 1980. To provide bearings which were not manufactured in India.

1981: In Aurangabad versatile bearing were made in Multiple sizes.

1982: The General Bearing Division was set up at Jalna in Maharashtra to manufacture cylindrical roller bearings in collaboration with RHP of UK. Soon thereafter, it diversified further and commenced the manufacture of spherical roller bearings and ball bearings. Jalna currently has the capacity to manufacture 7.5 million bearings per annum.

1990:
NRB was one of the top five players in the sector. It was the leader in the needle and cylindrical roller bearing segment. Having undergone a complete mutation in terms of an expanded product portfolio, the name of the company was changed to NRB Bearings Ltd.

1994: NRB Was able to supply a wide range of bearings like needle roller bearings, cylindrical roller bearings, tapered roller bearings, spherical roller bearings and ball bearings from its five locations.

Further strengthen its relation in 1994 with Torrington by setting up a joint venture company NRB Torringtion Limited at Waluj, Maharashtra. To manufacturer Fafnir, wide inner ball bearings and house units.


1995: NRB Bearings Limited went Public.


2000: SNL Bearings Limited ( SNL formely Shriram Needle Bearings industries Limited ) was acquired effective by NRB on 1st June 2000.

 Acheived QS-9000 certification in May.

 3rd May 2000 Research and Development Centre was opened.

Producing needle roller bearings, spherical roller bearings, cylindrical roller bearings, tapered roller bearings and ball bearings. The cummulative result of the direction and decisions has made NRB Bearings a market leader in the needle roller bearings markets with 70% market share. Thus, we have grown to become the first choice of suppliers. In tapered roller bearings and in ball bearings, we manufacture 'customized products' for select customers like Maruti and for specific applications for two and three wheelers.

With a continual thrust on tailoring bearings to suit specific needs, NRB has successfully developed customization and applications expertise as their forte.
